Week 7 College Football Power Rankings

LSU had a big win over Tennessee propelling the Tigers to the No. 1 spot with Oklahoma falling to No.2 after beating Kansas.  Alabama holds at No. 3 with the Cowboys of Oklahoma State and the Broncos of Boise State staying put at Nos. 4 and 5.  Clemson moved in to the top ten and undefeated Kansas State moved in to the top 25.

The Lovell Lowdown Top 25 matchup of the week is No. 7 Wisconsin at No. 14 Michigan State.  This should be a good game between two of the best teams in the Big Ten, but ultimately the higher ranked and better team will come out on top.  I have Wisconsin winning this one on the road 35-24.

Week 6 College Football Power Rankings

Positions 1-9 stayed exactly the same this week with quite a bit of shakeup 10-25.  Oklahoma's dominance over Texas in the Red River Rivalry kept them in the No. 1 spot this week with LSU close behind at No. 2 after beating up on the Florida Gators.  Alabama remains at No. 3 with Oklahoma State at No. 4 and Boise State at No. 5.

The Lovell Lowdown Top 25 matchup of the week is Michigan at Michigan State.  The Wolverines are 6-0 under new head coach Brady Hoke and the Spartans have looked good the last couple of weeks since the loss to Notre Dame.  As usual I think this will be a close game and I think the home team will lead late in the game, but Michigan is going to come out on top in this one 30-28.

Week 5 College Football Power Rankings

Oklahoma's throttling of Ball State vaulted them back to the No. 1 spot.  Despite LSU's convincing win over Kentucky the Tigers dropped to No. 2.  Alabama had the most impressive win over the weekend in a  38-10 victory over Florida, but still remained at No. 3.  Oklahoma State and Boise State held their positions at Nos. 4 and 5 respectively.

The top five remained as the same five teams, but the rest of the rankings received a big shakeup.  The Lovell Lowdown matchup of the week is my No. 1 vs. No. 10.  The Red River Rivalry between Oklahoma and Texas.  Oklahoma came away with a 28-20 win last season and I think this season's game will be a close one again.  I have the Sooners retaining the Golden Hat Trophy with a 33-28 win over the Longhorns in Dallas.
